A CONVERTED BERGEPANZER IV

Only 21 or 23 were built actually but as a matter of fact I managed to buy an old Airfix model for a mere 5 euro which in relative terms is a kind of a bargain. So I went for this conversion. I bought the CMK 2008 kit which allows the conversion of a Revell panzer. 

I know many things can be better but for my wargaming standards the outcome is pretty good and I am generous with this judgement because of some reasons, being my white hair one of them.

The log is longer than what it should be or probably it fits well in the Revell kit but not in the Aifix one so I had to cut it shorter. Luckily there is plenty of reference in the web and of pics of outstanding models out there

 

 

The soldier must be from Preiser if I do not mistake, one with the body split between the legs and the trunk. Now the part I like most comes: let's get some action here: 

 

We have a Pz III M by Fujimi form the Regiment Stab (R06) and a SdKfz 250 lang + Pak 38 by Milicast (G136). Base paint is Molak 1187 with humbrol 62 and 86. Figs are mostly from Orion (sets 1-4) but also some from other manufacturers.

The ones I like most are the soldier carrying ammunitions for the panzerschreck and the one with the telephone backpack cable reel spooler. I used a mixture of models to start. The one holding his rifle on his shoulder is an Airfix surrender to which I cut his arms

  

 

 

 

 

From almost nothing to a Borgward 5 tonn LKW

I had a soft plastic moulded truck from the ‘70s whose closest reference was probably either a Buessing Nag or a Borgward. I decided to do some basic upgrade to get it closer to the latter one. These pics show the starting point:

                          

    

I added some cargo bed on both side, the manufacturer’s logo in front of the engine, two rear view mirrors of different shape based on the reference photos. I added the lights, rose the truck doors and put a driver and his steering wheel. I also added the two width signal sticks. I added some pumping tools (MARS).

                          

I painted everything with Molak 1187 and did some light weathering. I used some TL and Skytrex decals.

This truck is nicknamed Tiger as you may see on the right door. It belongs to 116^ PzDiv and its tact symbol tells us that it belongs to a transport unit:

I put some Attack drums, 88mm shell cases by 20mm Zone, bed rolls by Goffy Model, mixed cargo by TP Models. The soldier is from Preiser, if I remeber well.

    

 

A Sexton  appeared at a Milan Modelling Fair recently. Probably it used to belong to the Italian Army which took it on board after the end of WW2
